The Lanesboro Farmers Market announces its celebration of rhubarb! The Rhubarb Festival will be held June 2, 2007 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at Sylvan Park in Lanesboro, Minn.
We welcome everyone to the taste of everything rhubarb! You will be able to taste such rhubarb delights as pies, crisps, cakes, soups, chutneys, chili, jams, ketchup, leathers, drinks and more. You will be the judge of the best of everything rhubarb. You taste your favorites, and you vote. The winners of these Peoples Choice awards will win great prizes, and you will find it delicious. Our Celebrity Chef, Meg Olson from the Vintage Restaurant, will award her favorites. The Rhubarb Olympics for kids and adults will feature such wonders as the Rhubarb Stalk Throw and Green Eggs and Rhubarb. The KTTC Morning News Team of Jess Abrahamson and Ted Schmidt will open the event at 10 a.m. and toss out the first stalk. There will be a Rhubarb Rant Speakers Corner for those who want to pontificate on rhubarb. Music will be heard everywhere. The Rhubarb Sisters will entertain you with song. Mike McAbee will make your day with music and laughter. Other musical guests will be on hand to make rhubarb something you won’t soon forget. Have your picture taken as Ray and Ruby Rhubarb, maybe with your little rhubarbettes. Contests and prizes for the largest rhubarb leaf, the heaviest rhubarb stalk and rhubarb crafts and more. There will be music, food, fun, and prizes. Celebrate rhubarb, Minnesota’s sweet-tart favorite June 2, 2007 in Lanesboro. Complete details can be found at www.rhubarbfestival.org.
