Root River Trail Towns has organized Taste of the Trail events on September Saturdays following Labor Day since 2012. The organization made the difficult decision this week to cancel the events in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Trail Towns President, Gabby Kinneberg, said, “Each year, the Taste of the Trail brings in visitors and bicyclists from across Minnesota and surrounding states on three consecutive Saturdays in September. Typically, a few hundred people travel through our towns for these events to experience music, food, and other ‘tastes’ of our communities. Unfortunately, with the projections for continued COVID-19 transmission, restrictions on large groups, safety of volunteers, and financial hardship faced by many of our business donors and sponsors, we feel it best to cancel the three Saturday events this year.” Kinneberg noted that some towns may still have their own festivities but they will not be organized or sponsored by the Root River Trail Towns organization.
